Failing that, he continued to drive his cab in Cleveland, Ohio, and took comfort in the arms of his lover, the gorgeous model Beverly Switzler. From the tortured mind of Steve Gerber came Howard, who was brought to life first by Val Mayerik and followed by the stellar talents of Frank Brunner, Gene Colan, Carmine Infantino and John Buscema.
