Fig Keele has learned that there's no such thing as safety within the walls of the interdimensional vortex and drinking establishment known as the House of Mystery. But the danger she's about to confront is in a different league altogether.

The witches of the Summerlands have arrived to enlist Fig in their effort to reclaim their stolen home. They've also brought a large amount of gold to secure the warrior skills of the House's goblin neighbors.

Arrayed against them are the forces of the Thinking Man: psychic mindworms, flying killer robots, and cold, hard reason. Together they will crush all magic, metaphor and mystery right out of existence - unless somebody can stop them.

But the witches' war party is far from a united front. The Queen has her eye on Fig, for reasons unknown; the goblins are at each others' throats; Fig's Housemate Cress is stuck in the past - literally - and Fig's freaky family is busy plotting revenge.
